Canine Awareness and Safe Dog Handling

Working with unfamiliar dogs can be unpredictable. Whether responding to council requests, securing public spaces or assisting with animal-related incidents, security professionals need more than confidence, they need an understanding of canine behaviour. This four-hour practical workshop has been developed by OzcorpK9 to provide security personnel with the knowledge and practical skills to safely assess, approach and manage loose or distressed dogs in real-world situations. Unlike traditional classroom-only training, participants will learn through live demonstrations with trained dogs, allowing them to observe genuine canine body language, behavioural responses and appropriate handling techniques in a controlled environment. The course focuses on reducing risk, improving decision making and promoting safe outcomes for both handlers and the dogs they encounter. Upon successful completion, participants receive a Certificate of Completion recognising their attendance and practical training.
